Pilates is a low impact exercise method focusing on core strength, flexibility, poster and body awareness through controlled movements. It is a full-body exercise system and focuses primarily on the powerhouse. The powerhouse refers the core muscles that provide stability and support for the body during movement – the abdominals, lower back, hips and glutes.
Each of our sessions are 55 minutes long. This provides enough time to cove range of exercises that target different muscles groups while keeping the sessions engaging.
Practicing Pilates two to three times per week is recommended for optimal results but even one session per week is beneficial. If you cannot attend two to three times per week, our instructors can give you Pilates exercises to do at home.
Group classes are a maximum of four. Instructors can give more individualized feedback and corrections, ensuring each student improves their form and technique.
It is best to wear comfortable, form-fitting clothes that allow for a full range of motion. Fitting clothing allows instructors to see your alignment and posture helping them provide better guidance and corrections.
Women: Fitted tank top or t-shirt that does not ride up during movement. Leggings or yoga pants that are stretchy and allow you to move without restriction.
Men: Fitted tank top or t-shirt. Stretchy shorts, joggers or athletic leggings, fitted but not too tight allowing for a full range of motion.
Footwear is not required but if you prefer socks, please wear griping socks designed for exercise.
Jewelry and watches should be left at home. Diamond rings and items with sharp edges can puncture, scratch and damage the upholstery on the apparatus. Watches can limit the range of motion, create pressure on your write or impact your ability to maintain proper alignment.
